Potatoes contain an enzyme called catecholase that helps in reduction of an excess amount of melanin.

For this method, take a potato and cut it in half. Add water drops onto cut side of the potato. Rub the potato onto the affected areas. After 10 minutes, wash your face with warm water. Use this 3-4 times a day for a month.

2. Lemon/ Lime procedure

Lemon is an excellent natural bleaching agent, and honey is an excellent moisturizer. These properties help in reducing skin pigmentation. Hence in this procedure, you require one lemon and two teaspoons, organic honey. Take the lemon juice in a bowl and add honey to it and mix it thoroughly. Apply these to the affected areas. After 15 minutes, wash it with lukewarm water. You can use this twice a day.

3. Lemon juice and turmeric powder

Turmeric is an ingredient that helps in maintaining ph levels in the body. Due to its radiant properties, it is often used as a face pack at homes. For this remedy, you need one teaspoon lemon juice and one teaspoon turmeric powder. Mix both the ingredients to get a good mixture. Apply it on the skin for 15 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. You can do it once before going to bed.

4.Apple Cider Vinegar


Apple cider vinegar has astringent properties which help the skin acquire its natural color. It also makes the skin naturally radiant. Dilute vinegar with water and apply the mixture on the affected areas and after 5 minutes, wash it off with warm water. Doing it twice a day can provide you with the best results.

5. Red Onion

Red onions are an excellent source of Vitamin C, an antioxidant that can be used for treating pigmentation. For this, you require a red onion. Slice it and rub it on the pigmented area. Wait for 10 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. You can also grate the onion and squeeze out its juice and apply it on the affected areas. You can do it twice a day until you notice some improvement.

6.Aloe Vera

Aloe vera cleanses the skin, helps in reducing dark spots and offer protection from the harm done by UV rays. For this, you require two teaspoons of aloe vera gel and a half teaspoon of raw honey. Mix these both the ingredients in a bowl and let it settle for 10 minutes. After this, apply the mixture on the skin and wait for 20 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water. Do it once a day for two weeks.

7. Cucumber 

Cucumber is best known for rejuvenating the skin and improve its complexion. You need tbsp of cucumber juice with 1 tbsp honey and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Combine the ingredients in a bowl to get a smooth mixture. Apply this to your affected areas and wait for 10 minutes. After that, rinse with warm water. Do it twice a day every day.

8. Orange Peel

The citric acid present in orange peels helps in reduction of melanin that in turns reduces skin pigmentation. You need a dehydrated orange peel which you can have it by making it sundry. Grind the peel to gain a powder. To the powder, add one tsp of lemon juice, one tsp of milk and one tsp of honey. Apply it on the affected areas and after 20 minutes, rinse your face with warm water. You can do it 3-4 times in a week.

9. Almonds

Almonds provide with vitamin E called skin vitamin. It helps in reducing skin pigmentation. Soak 5-6 almonds in water overnight. Grind it in the morning to get a smooth paste. In it, add one tsp honey, few drops of lemon juice. You can add milk if you paste is not flat. Apply it on the affected areas of your skin. Leave it overnight and wash your wash with cold water in the morning. You should do it every day for two weeks, after which you can do it twice a week.

10. Sandalwood

Sandalwood is an excellent blood purifier. It is also used in sunscreens as it protects the skin from harmful UV rays. Add 2 tbsp rose water to 2 tsp of sandalwood powder to get a smooth paste. Apply it on the pigmented area for 30 minutes and then, rinse it with lukewarm water. Do it twice a week for good results.

11. Avocados

Vitamin C and Oleic acid present in the skin maintains the firmness of the skin and is a proper remedy for skin pigmentation. Mash an avocado. It should be free of lumps. Apply it on the surface and then leave for 30 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Do it twice a day for a month.

12. Banana


A natural exfoliator, banana clean the skin thereby treating skin pigmentation. It is a vibrant source of Vitamin K that nourishes the skin and keeps the skin healthy. You will need one tsp milk, 1/4 tsp honey, and 1/2 banana. Mash the banana and add honey and milk to it. Apply this smooth mixture onto the affected areas of your skin and rinse your skin with warm water after 30 minutes. Repeat it twice a week, and you will see a considerable improvement in three weeks.
