The famous actors Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz will return for the next season of ‘Big Little Lies’ to join Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman on the HBO show.
HBO is busy making new deals for the next season of the show. The stars Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz who were there for the season one have officially signed new deals to come back on the hit drama. They will continue with the roles of Jane Chapman, Renata Klein, and Bonnie Carlson, respectively.
The award-winning drama series was supposed to be a limited run and was made close-ended. As such the cast’s contracts also did not include the option of more episodes. So HBO has now to sign new deals with the star cast. If sources are to be believed, with the new deals the cast members too got themselves a sizable raises on their salaries upon their return to the show.
The season which is season two will now focus on the lies, friendships, marriages, and parenting. It will explore more of the malignancy of lies, the longevity of friendships, how fragile a wedding can be and yes, how viciously ferocious a sound parenting can be. Relationships will be tested and will fray, and loyalties will fail. The season will also loom upon us the potential for emotional and bodily harm.
Woodley, Dern, and Kravitz will join the season two of the show with returning stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. The show has also added Meryl Streep as a regular cast and will play the role of Mary Louise Wright who will be Perry’s (Alexander Skarsgard) mother. HBO is still on the lookout for someone to play Bonnie’s father as per some sources. And it is not just Bonnie’s father but some new roles too. Despite what the fans saw in the season as to the fate of Perry, Skarsgard is also expected to make a return in some way or the another.
For the season two of ‘Big Little Lies,’ nearly the entire creative team is poised to come back. But the biggest difference to note behind the scenes is the director, Jean-Marc Vallee who helmed every episode of the season one will return only as an executive producer. Replacing him as the director will be Andrea Arnold. She is an Oscar-winning director who won for writing and directing her short movie titled ‘Wasp.’ She will be directing all the seven episodes of the second season. David E. Kelly will be writing this season’s all seven episodes. She was attached to the show when it was supposed to be a movie which would have starred Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Kelley will write the story which will be partially based on a story which was written by Liane Moriarty. Kelley will also executive produce the show apart from writing alongside Nicole Kidman and her Blossoms Films topper Per Saari; Reese Witherspoon will executive produce through her banner ‘Hello Sunshine’; And Bruna Papandrea, Vallee, Nathan Ross, Gregg Fienberg, and Arnold.
The hit show has won the Emmy’s and also Golden Globes for a limited series with its powerful story and amazing starlit cast. The show is about three wealthy women living in Monterey, California named Madeline, Celeste, and Jane. And a murder changes it all.
